Moose, a Great Pyrenees, is a livestock guardian dog.  These types of dogs have been guarding and protecting flocks of sheep and goats for centuries.  It comes natural to him and he prefers to stay outside and live by the sheep.  Coyotes are abundant in the country and they kill livestock.  After losing some lambs and then witnessing the horrific act of killing our dear Papillon, Cookie, I found him through a Great Pyrenees rescue organization.  I will be forever touched by the way he patrols and keeps the coyotes off our property.  Please be aware of the stories about the dangers of predators to small dogs.  Make sure to keep your small dog safe.
